Getting your New Mexico Concealed Carry License (NM CCL or NMCCL) is a fairly straightforward process, and isn’t as difficult as some would think.
In fact, you can complete most of the required training online. We’ll discuss that more a little further down in this article.
Before getting started, you’ll want to figure out why you want to get your New Mexico Concealed Carry License.
Most people will answer “well, we live in [insert most cities in New Mexico here] and the crime rate has gotten out of control, police response times are slow, etc…”
But what it really should boil down to, and what it usually does boil down to is this:
Your life is too important and you mean so much to your loved ones, that you cannot afford to bet your life on the mercy of someone who is willing to violently attack you or your loved ones.
Before I get too far down that rabbit hole and too high on my soapbox, let’s get back to breaking down how to get your New Mexico Concealed Carry License, and the 3 steps you need to complete.
Step 1: Find and complete a NM Department of Public Safety approved New Mexico Concealed Carry Course. Step 2: Register and get your fingerprints electronically taken for the required background check. Cogent ID handles this for New Mexico Concealed Carry License applicants. The cost is only $44 and is separate/in addition to any New Mexico Concealed Carry Course that you take.
Step 3: Compile and submit your New Mexico Concealed Carry License application to the New Mexico Department of Public Safety (be sure to include the NM CCL Course Certificate of Completion that your NM Concealed Carry Instructor provided you with after your New Mexico Concealed Carry Course.
